Fundraising Operational Information Specialist (m/f/x) – Brussels – MSF Belgium

CONTEXT 

Within Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), the Finance Department aims to ensure that the resources contribute successfully to the running of operational objectives. MSF financial autonomy is highly dependent on donors’ trust and private income. Moreover, a significant portion of income is restricted by the donors’ specific interests and social mission.

The MSF-Belgium Funding Unit (FU) is at the center for managing and optimizing funding of MSF operational projects, coordinating funding processes, while ensuring there is no overfunding. The unit is at the heart of several departments, working closely with operations, fundraising, communication, and finances team members, and collaborate with more than 15 MSF partnering sections.

As the Fundraising Operational Information Specialist, you will be part of the Funding Unit and contribute to the enlargement of the funding from (mainly) private donors for the Operational Centre Brussels (OCB). You will work under the funding unit coordinator's supervision.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic support to Fundraising with Ops collaboration and networking:

  • Collaborate closely with the operations, communication, medical departments, build your network and access the information needed for fundraising activities
  • Provide critical, qualitative and up to date operational information to help fundraisers build the first step of a relationship with donors and expand donations
  • Backup of other members of the FU team to strengthen the relationship with major donors, foundations, companies if donor’s wish to visit field our projects or our office HQ

Management and Analysis of operational information and data:

  • Produce updated and concise operational information (+/- 60 ongoing projects) to complement Project ID cards
  • Ensure a close follow-up of all emergency responses with the Epool (Emergency pool) to provide rapid, regular, consistent, and up-to-date information for fundraising (+/- 12 ongoing emergencies)
  • Liaise closely with all relevant departments and teams in the projects, collect the main medical (and HR) data and clarify data inconsistencies
  • Analyze data and indicators agreed in operational project ID cards (+/- 40 projects), prepare a narrative to explain deviations, challenges, failures, and successes
  • Prepare the relevant charts, graphs, and power point presentations to share with the different target audiences for external accountability
  • Stay informed of the portfolio country programs, current and planned, across OCB and keep up to date with all developments in OCB’s main interventions
  • Launch, facilitate, optimize, follow up and maintain the access to key OCB operational information, relevant for fundraising purposes (more than 40 MSF fundraising offices)

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

  • University degree in communication, economics, marketing, management, business administration, politics studies, international studies or equivalent
  • Experience in organizing, storing, and analyzing programmatic and clinical data
  • Relevant experience in project and change management with an inclusive and collaborative approach
  • At least 3 years of experience in international humanitarian sector 
  • MSF experience is a strong asset: good understanding of MSF’s dynamic and knowledge of MSF operational communications processes

  • Ability to work fast and under pressure and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Support oriented towards donors and fundraisers
  • Ability to work independently with a multinational, culturally diverse team, spread into several countries 
  • Computer skills: Excel, PPT, PowerBI users basic, communication tools (sharepoint, teams, outlook)

Languages

  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)
  • French is an asset

CONDITIONS

  • Expected starting date: 1st of June 2024
  • Location: Brussels (Belgium) 
  • Contract type: Open-ended contract – Full-time – 50% homeworking per week possible
  • Salary according to MSF-OCB HQ grid
