Before you apply

We’re delighted that you’re considering joining Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
For thousands of people, working with MSF has been a deeply rewarding yet profoundly challenging experience.
It often changes perspectives, strengthens resilience, and leaves a lasting impact, both professionally and personally.
Choosing to work with MSF also involves a personal and professional commitment. Before taking the next step, we encourage you to pause,
reflect, and consider whether this path aligns with your values, motivations, expectations, and personal circumstances.

Do your values align with our principles?

Beyond the application of your professional skills, your application demonstrates a commitment to vulnerable populations, as well as an understanding of, adherence to, and respect for MSF's mission and principles.

During the recruitment process, the topics above may be used as discussion points and we may ask for your views and perspectives

Are you ready to represent MSF?

Working with MSF means more than bringing your professional skills. It also means sharing our commitment to treating every person with respect, dignity and humanity wherever we work.

The trust placed in MSF relies on the conduct of every staff member, wherever we work. By joining MSF, you commit to upholding our values, behavioural commitments, and Code of Conduct at all times.

MSF has zero tolerance for abuse, exploitation, harassment, discrimination, or any misuse of power. This includes physical or psychological abuse, sexual harassment, sexual relations with minors. Any behaviour that harms others or undermines human dignity has no place in MSF.

To help protect patients, communities, and staff, MSF applies safeguarding measures throughout the employee journey. These include safe recruitment practices and reference checks.

Can you adapt your daily activities to security measures?

Working with MSF means taking responsibility for your own safety and security, as well as for the safety and security of your colleagues, patients, and the communities we serve.

What we offer

What we offer
What is a pool recruitment

What is MSF ‘pool recruitment’?

As a humanitarian emergency organisation, MSF uses a ‘pool system’ to respond quickly to crises worldwide with the right qualified professionals. If your application is successful, you will join a pool of specialists organised by profile.

When a suitable international position becomes available, our staffing teams will consider your skills, experience, background, language abilities, availability, personal constraints, and the needs of the programme. Flexibility about where you may work is important.

If you are selected, you will receive detailed information about the assignment before deciding whether to accept it. Joining a pool does not mean that you must accept every offer.

Throughout your journey with MSF, you will be supported by a Development Advisor, who will help you navigate assignments, develop your skills, and build your career within the organisation.
