As a pharmacist, you are responsible for the management of medicines, medical supplies, and medical equipment.
You evaluate needs according to medical activities, inventory and consumption follow-up, and distribution of quality-assured medicine to clinics and hospitals supported by MSF. Additionally, you ensure that the appropriate treatment reaches the adequate patient, at the right time and with the right dosage.
You work in close collaboration with the medical coordination team as well as with the Supply Chain and Logistic Teams.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure the quality and proper management of medical products throughout the supply chain, from procurement to storage and administration, in line with MSF standards and policies

Ensure that the medical supply chain complies with with Good Pharmacy Practices (GPP) and Good Storage and Distribution Practices (GSDP) and applicable national legislation, especially for controlled drugs and maintain quality assurance and pharmacovigilance requirements

Establish and enforce protocols and procedures to ensure high‑quality pharmaceutical services for the patients

Supervise and organise the functioning of the pharmacies and peripheral units

Define and implement storage, stock management, hygiene, and security procedures to guarantee appropriate storage conditions and the safe handling of medical products and equipment in project pharmacies

Actively participate in strategic discussions, including decision-making related to stock monitoring and protocol updates

Collaborate with the Supply Team when they oversee the management of medical stock, within warehouses

Oversee the correct implementation and use of management tools within the pharmacies and end-user units

Ensure the collection of data for monitoring and surveillance of optimal quantity & quality of medicine use

Evaluate the rational use of drugs (especially antibiotics), and provide solutions to improve the quality of care through pharmacy activities

While analysing performance indicators and reporting on stock management, you take strategic decisions together with the medical and supply teams, to avoid critical issues on stock level which would impact negatively the activities

Train, manage and coach pharmacy staff in the projects
PROFILE
- Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or equivalent with a minimum 4 years of study in pharmacy sciences (for specialists in infection prevention and control (IPC) - Please view the profile IPC Specialist here)
- Diploma in tropical medicine is an asset
- Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience
- Working experience in hospitals’ and/or clinical pharmacy practice skills is an asset
- Experience in humanitarian settings or previous work experience with an NGO is an asset
LANGUAGES
- Proficiency in English and French, both spoken and written is mandatory
- Good knowledge in Arabic, Spanish or Portuguese is an asset
