Emergency Pool Mobile Supply Chain Coordinator (m/f/x) – MSF Belgium
CONTEXT
Within the Operations Department of MSF Belgium (Operational Center Brussels - OCB), our Emergency Pool (E-Pool) has as primary function to intervene directly and quickly with medical activities in crisis situations such as conflicts, epidemics, outbreaks and natural disasters while guaranteeing the quality of interventions. It is also tasked with the monitoring and identification of crises that may arise.
The E-Pool consists of one E-Pool Coordinator and a deputy, and two Emergency Coordinators based in Brussels. In addition to the Emergency Coordinators, the E-Pool unit is composed of technical referent officers in Supply, Logistics, HR and Finance.
The E-Pool also includes a Mobile Emergency Team deployed in emergency operations and composed of different profiles of coordinators and technicians. Members of the E-Pool Mobile Team travel at short notice to any context where the E-Pool is leading interventions, operating in a roving capacity. They undertake successive several short-term assignments between 6 weeks to 3 months, though in exceptional cases, it may extend beyond 3 months.
As Emergency Pool Mobile Supply Chain Coordinator (E-Pool Mobile SupplyCo), your role is primarily intended for program-based SupplyCo positions (and sometimes other supply chain positions) for the E-Unit, based on the specific needs of emergencies. When on duty, you must be prepared to travel at very short notice to set up and manage the logistics & supply needs of an intervention. You will directly supervise the supply chain team during your assignments.
We are currently looking for two E-Pool Mobile Supply Coordinators.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
As E-Pool Mobile Supply Chain Coordinator you will
-
Act as a key link between headquarters and field operations, ensuring continuity and coordination between the E-Unit and supply/logistics teams, and supporting strategic alignment across all levels.
-
Lead and oversee supply chain operations in emergency projects, including procurement, warehousing, distribution, and logistics services - ensuring smooth implementation, monitoring, and adaptation to evolving humanitarian needs.
-
Define and implement supply strategies tailored to each mission, in collaboration with coordination teams and HQ—translating operational needs into clear objectives, priorities, and resource plans, while ensuring compliance with MSF protocols and policies.
-
Ensure quality, efficiency, and risk management across the supply chain, by monitoring procedures, analyzing performance through KPIs, anticipating risks, and proposing corrective actions, stablishing relevant reporting systems and long-term improvements.
-
Support and develop supply chain teams, identifying training and mentoring needs, applying HR policies, and ensuring proper communication and collaboration within the mission and with external stakeholders (e.g., suppliers, authorities, other NGOs).
-
Represent the mission supply department and coordinate crosscutting/transversal initiatives, participating in strategic planning, budget definition, intersectional initiatives/projects, and validation of third-party suppliers—while ensuring accurate data management and continuous improvement of supply guidelines and SOPs.
-
Contribute to emergency preparedness and operational effectiveness, by managing back-office dossiers, supporting HQ (including gap-filling ESCO when needed), and working on tasks like E-stock updates, supply tool development, capacity building initiatives, among others. You’ll translate operational needs into agile supply solutions, remain beneficiary-focused, and apply innovative approaches in areas like warehousing, transport, and customs—while staying connected with peers in the supply chain in emergencies community.
