Analytics & AI Solutions Lead (m/f/x) – Brussels – MSF Belgium 

CONTEXT  

MSF Operational Directorate Brussels supports more than 150 programmes worldwide, with over 6,000 employees. Within the ICT Department, the Data & Analytics team is the pillar supporting the Data & Analytics Strategy, Governance, Engineering and Products. Through the implementation of a Data Mesh framework, the team facilitates federated data governance, maintains a modern analytics platform, supports programmes with fit-for-purpose tools to manage data across its lifecycle, and strengthens data literacy. 

As Analytics & AI Solutions Lead, you will act as the central intake point and solution design lead for Data, Analytics, and AI needs. You will translate requests into coherent solution designs aligned with MSF standards and the existing stack, recommend the most appropriate options, and guide delivery teams through clear design artefacts and validated assumptions. 

Our team promotes collective intelligence and encourages each member to actively contribute to MSF’s transformation into a data-driven organization. We are reshaping our data stack using cutting-edge tools such as Microsoft Fabric to support ambitious operational projects. As an innovation incubator, we also lead MSF’s AI discovery efforts, ensuring our infrastructure evolves in step with emerging AI trends. 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Lead the development and formalisation of data, analytics and AI practices, ensuring they are embedded into a fit for purpose design framework aligned with recognised industry best practices
  • Ensure that all data, analytics and AI solutions comply with MSF movement wide standards and support interoperability across Operational Directorates and shared platforms
  • Assess, qualify and prioritise data, analytics and AI requests by translating needs into clear problem statements and designing appropriate end to end solutions
  • Develop proofs of concept and feasibility prototypes, especially for AI related assumptions, to test technical viability and reduce risks before full implementation
  • Maintain high quality solution design documentation for all Data and Analytics solutions, ensuring accuracy, consistency and accessibility for relevant teams
  • Engage and coordinate with key stakeholders and technical leads, including Data Engineering, Analytics, Governance, Programme Engineers, Infrastructure and DevOps, to ensure alignment and avoid unnecessary rework
  • Act as the Operational Directorate’s focal point for AI, advising on use cases, relevant market solutions and opportunities to accelerate value delivery while ensuring responsible and inclusive AI practices
  • Build and maintain a strong internal and external network, representing OCB within intersectional platforms, academic partnerships, third party collaborations and research and development environments 

REQUIREMENTS 

Education & Experience 

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Data/Analytics, Engineering, or a related area of study
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business analysis and solution design for data/analytics/AI initiatives (needs assessment, stakeholder management, prioritization support)
  • Strong experience designing end-to-end data & analytics solutions (requirements → architecture/design → handover to delivery teams)
  • Minimum 3 years of strong experience with modern data & analytics (AI included) platforms; Microsoft Fabric is an asset
  • Experience assessing AI feasibility and solution options (build/buy/adapt), including market scanning and vendor comparison
  • Proven hands-on experience implementing AI/GenAI solutions in production, including feasibility assessment and evaluation/monitoring; exposure to advanced approaches (e.g., agentic workflows, MCP)
  • Experience in humanitarian/NGO or complex, multi-country environments is an asset, including variable digital skills and uneven internet access/connectivity constraints is an asset 

Competencies and skills 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to structure ambiguous needs into clear problem statements and decision-ready options
  • Solid understanding of governance and compliance fundamentals (privacy, security-by-design, data quality principles, metadata)
  • Strong documentation skills: ability to produce clear design artefacts and implementation guidance for delivery teams
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills with diverse stakeholders in international and cross-functional contexts
  • Ability to translate complex topics into pragmatic, implementable options
  • High autonomy, structured way of working, and strong documentation mindset
  • Commitment to responsible, inclusive and intersectional approaches in AI and analytics
  • Strong SQL and data modelling of min. 5 years
  • Strong architecture knowledge of modern data platforms and cloud/on-prem paradigms; Microsoft Azure experience is a plus
  • Strong Python capability (Pandas, Polars) and PySpark/Spark experience of min. 3 years
  • Strong integration knowledge (APIs, batch/file exchanges, orchestration concepts) –of min. 3 years
  • Strong privacy & security-by-design awareness for data/analytics solutions (access control, sensitive data handling) of min. 3 years 

Languages 

  • Proficient level in English, both written and spoken is mandatory 

  • Good knowledge of French is an asset 

CONDITIONS 

  • Expected starting date: May/June 2026 

  • Location: Brussels 

  • Contract type: Open-ended contract – full-time  

  • Mobility: Maximum 1 project visit per year 

  • Salary according to the MSF-OCB HQ salary grid
